Reiki is a relaxing hands-on energy practice that promotes balance on all levels–physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. The subtle Reiki vibrations pass through the hands of the practitioner to be directed by the needs of the recipient encouraging healing and overall well-being.
One client described her session as a “massage for the soul”. It’s one of the finest descriptions I’ve heard. Each client’s experience is likely to be unique which makes explaining what Reiki is very difficult.
When it comes to energy or bodywork my writing ability tends to escape me. I attribute this to the fact that when I’m in a session with a client the work comes from my heart and not my head. To wrap words around the experience seems to diminish it because of the limiting scope of our spoken and written language. Often times our language does not contain words to express what has taken place. Instead it’s a feeling and/or vibration that touches a part of our cellular memory and reminds us who we were created to be.
From a practical perspective here is what you can expect during a Reiki session – you’ll lie on a massage table, fully clothed. I will lay my hands on or near your body, positioning my hands at the head, limbs and torso throughout the treatment. The Reiki energy goes where it is needed and knows what to do. It can do no harm.
